What is gold plating?
A controlled electroplating process that deposits a fine layer of gold for colour, corrosion resistance and premium appearance.
Gold plating is a precision electroplating process that deposits a controlled layer of gold onto a metal surface. It’s specified for its distinctive colour and premium appearance — and, as part of a suitable system, for corrosion resistance in demanding environments.
We offer decorative gold plating and Incalux® gold tone finishes only. Gold thickness is kept to ≤0.25 µm (decorative). Anything heavier would be a different specification and isn’t offered.

How gold plating is applied
A controlled, multi-stage process — with careful handling at every stage.
Assess and specify
Review environment, handling and wear to choose the right gold system.
Prepare the surface
Degrease, strip (if required) and polish to achieve the correct base finish.
Apply undercoats
Copper and/or nickel layers for adhesion, smoothness and corrosion resistance.
Gold electroplate
Deposit gold to the required thickness using dedicated gold baths.
Inspect and finish
Visual inspection and thickness checks where specified; final polish if required.
