What is chrome plating?
A bright, mirror-like finish with strong corrosion resistance and wear performance.
Chrome plating is an electroplating process that applies a thin layer of chromium onto metal surfaces — producing a clean, reflective finish that performs well in high-touch environments.
We offer decorative nickel-chrome (a nickel base with a thin chromium topcoat). We do not offer hard chrome plating.
"I had an old chrome finished soap basket on which the chrome had worn off. The basket was fixed onto a marble splashback and the only replacement baskets that I could find would have required new screw holes to be drilled into the marble. I therefore decided to look at re-chroming the basket. After abortive discussions with a couple of companies offering re-chroming services, I found Douglas Metal Finishing on the net. Re-chroming of my soap basket was organised efficiently, and I am delighted with the result which probably looks better than the soap basket did when I bought it. How chrome plating is applied

Strip (if required)

Polish and prepare

Remove oils, residues and contamination so the finish bonds correctly.
Nickel plating
Apply a mid-bright to bright nickel layer for depth and corrosion protection.
